The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed the Tuesday session at 137,964.81, losing 1,415.24 points (-1.02%), as investors engaged in widespread profit-taking across key sectors. The index saw a wide intraday swing of 2,694 points, reaching a high of 140,331.01 and dipping to a low of 137,636.37.
A total of 212.67 million shares were traded in KSE-100. Out of the 100 constituents, 76 declined, 23 advanced, while 1 remained unchanged.
Top decliners included JVDC (-6.88%), PSEL (-6.20%), HGFA (-6.02%), EFERT (-5.12%), and ENGROH (-3.17%).
On the flip side, GHGL (+9.44%), BWCL (+4.43%), ILP (+4.36%), TRG (+3.30%), and GADT (+2.88%) were the major gainers.
Heavyweights dragging the index were ENGROH (-222.90 pts), EFERT (-222.41 pts), UBL (-192.25 pts), HBL (-135.56 pts), and HUBC (-111.72 pts). In contrast, FFC (+99.35 pts) and GHGL (+47.26 pts) offered notable support.
Sector-wise, the pressure came from Commercial Banks (-297 pts), Investment Companies (-230 pts), E&Ps (-163 pts), and Cement (-150 pts), while Glass & Ceramics and Textiles offered minor support.
The broader All-Share Index dropped 768.82 points (-0.89%), with market volume rising to 606.33 million shares and traded value recorded at Rs32.69 billion.
Top Volume Leaders:
· TELE (38.6M shares)
· BOP (31.9M shares)
· WTL, DSIL, and ASL followed.
Despite today’s drop, the KSE-100 is still up 9.82% FYTD and 19.84% CYTD.
